Baba Jaswant Singh Ji

Baba Jaswant Singh ji, a decedent of Braham Gyani Baba Budha Sahib Ji from India, visited the Peterborough Sikh Bhat Community in 1972. At that time there was no dedicated Gurdwara Sahib building in Peterborough. Whilst eating Langar parshada at Randhir Singh Wahiwals’s house, Baba Jaswant Singh Ji advised him to establish a Gurdwara Sahib. Baba Ji was shown a couple of buildings in Peterborough but Baba Ji selected the 186 Cromwell Road building as a suitable site for the Gurdwara Sahib. Randhir Singh Wahiwala who owned this site at the time, donated it to the Bhat Sikh community of Peterborough for establishing a Gurdwara Sahib Ji. This historic photograph captured the scene of the Baba Ji’s visit.
